BIOGRAPHY: Paul M O'Donnell

Paul O'Donnell is CEO of the Canonbury Group, based in London. Canonbury Group was established in 1998.

He started his career in 1972 in commercial banking with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia moving on to investment banking with Bankers Trust in itsĄŻ trading and capital markets divisions.

In 1990 he moved to the asset management business with Bankers Trust and in 1992 he was sent to Hong Kong as a Managing Director to establish the firm's first international venture and joint ventures. He subsequently moved to London to direct the BanksĄŻ asset management efforts in the UK, Europe and Middle East.

 

Since establishing the Canonbury Group in 1998 he was a co-founder of Global Distribution Partners Inc, Malmgren-O'Donnell (both subsequently sold) and Global Fund Advisors Network (www.gfanetwork.com )which is active in many countries throughout the world.

Paul also serves as a mentor with Advance (www.advance.org ) (a mentoring and networking group for Australian professionals) and was a co-founder of Mango (www.mango-alts.com ) which runs networking events for the alternative asset industry.

He is a graduate of the University of Technology in Sydney Australia, a Certified Practicing Accountant (Australia) and a Justice of the Peace (Australia). He is a member of the Reform Club, a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society, and a member of the British Institute of Directors. Paul is a regular commentator on financial market and economic matters in television, in print media and at conferences.
