BIOGRAPHY: Ashish Bhatt

Ashish Bhatt is Principal in the Canonbury Group's London Office, and Editor-in-Chief of Policy & Markets. He provides expert analysis across a broad range of international and national policy areas, and their interplay with the financial markets; notably in the areas of international security; intelligence; emerging markets (with an emphasis on India and China); and energy. In addition to analysis, Ashish brings a unique insight into international and governmental policy-making at the highest levels. His analysis and insight are informed by 15 years experience in government and international affairs.

 

Prior to joining the Canonbury Group, Ashish was, between 2001 and 2007, Deputy Director of the Ditchley Foundation - a pre-eminent policy institute, dedicated to deepening the understanding of major policy trends at a senior level. He served from 1997 to 2001 as Special Assistant to the Rt Hon Paul Boateng, a senior Minister in Prime Minister Tony Blair's administration. Prior to 1997, Ashish was an Expert Consultant to the European Commission in the field of Justice and Home Affairs.

Ashish serves as a Director of the United Nations Association UK, and was a Trustee of Wateraid until 2006. He is a frequent commentator on India and global events, and has been published, amongst others, by Prospect Magazine, the Centre for European Reform, The New Statesman and Worldlink (the magazine for the World Economic Forum). Ashish is a graduate of Oxford University.
